A heatmap provides a visual representation of device signal strength across a floor plan. By editing the heatmap, you can identify areas with weak coverage, interference, and dead zones. This information helps network administrators optimize device placement and improve overall network performance.

ExtremeCloud‌ IQ supports the following real-time floor map editing functions:

Draw Inner Walls
Add a Device to a Floor Plan
Move a Device to a New Location on a Floor Plan
Remove a Device from a Floor Plan
Layer Opacity Adjustment
Resize the Heat Map

Use this task to edit a floor map.

Go to Manage > Real time maps.
Select a floor from the location list.

Note
The selected floor must include a floor map. For more information, see Add a Floor Plan.
Select the icon.

To draw inner walls:

Select Walls.

Select a wall type.

Add Custom Material	Create a new custom material by entering a Name, specifying the Attenuation (in dB), and selecting a Color. Select Apply to use this new material type. Note: Custom materials are created for imported maps that incorporate materials not already available. Note: Duplicate names, colors, or attenuation values are not permitted. Delete an existing custom material by selecting the material and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard. Note: Custom materials can only be deleted after all associated references to the them have been removed.

Select each corner of an inner wall on the floor plan to draw a wall boundary.
When you reach the end of the wall boundary, double-click the last corner to complete the wall.

Note
Right-click on a wall to change its type or delete it.
To disable the pen tool, press the ESC key on your keyboard.

To add a device to the floor plan, select Devices:
1. Select a device, or use the Search field to find a device.
2. Hover your cursor over the floor map and select the desired location to add the device to the floor plan.
Note
Only devices that are not associated with the floor plan are displayed.
To move a device to a new location on the floor plan, select a device and drag it to the desired location.
To remove a device from the floor plan, right-click the device and then select Remove Device.

Note
The removed device displays in the Devices list.
To adjust the opacity of the heat map layers, select Layers and adjust the opacity slider bar to make a layer more or less transparent.

Note
As you adjust the slider bar, the layer opacity changes on the map in real time.
To resize the heat map, follow these steps:
1. Select Resize.
2. Click on your starting point on the map.
3. Drag the cursor to your desired endpoint.
4. Click again to close the line.
5. sdd a new Add a measurement for the line distance.
